After graduating from New Brunswick Community College’s (Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ) Mechanical Technician program, Natasha Maillet knew she wanted to honour the memory of her mentor and encourage other women to pursue their dreams. The
Ruth Hamilton Award is
presented to a female student studying at Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Saint John in the Industrial Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Technician program.
“Ruth supported me through my education. She became a surrogate grandmother to
my daughter and was always there when I needed someone to talk to,” said Maillet. “She was always encouraging and supportive of me as a working, single mother pursuing my education.”
This year, Maillet presented the Ruth
Hamilton Award to Meaghan Bullock who is studying in the Mechanical Technician at Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Saint John Campus.
“Ruth was a strong independent woman and this award is meant to keep her memory alive and continue to encourage other women to pursue
their dreams and become strong and independent as well,” said Maillet.
