Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ announces 2018 Alumni Recognition recipients

FREDERICTON – New Brunswick Community College (Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ) is proud to announce the recipients of the  2018 Alumni Recognition Awards.

“When New Brunswickers look at the leaders in their communities, they can usually find Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Alumni among them,” said Luscombe. “It’s very gratifying to see our alumni use the skills and experiences they acquired during their time at Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ to improve their communities, their province and their chosen fields. Each of our 2018 Alumni Awards recipients is an inspiration to our current learners.”

The recipients of the 2018 Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Alumni Recognition Awards are:

  • Sean Dunbar, Class of 1984, Accommodation, Food and Beverage
Dunbar is the owner of Northampton Brewing Company, the brewers of Picaroons Traditional Ales. He is also a proud supporter of many New Brunswick charities and a number of local artists. Dunbar will receive the Friend of New Brunswick award, recognizing an alumnus who has made significant contributions to the culture, reputation and/or economic prosperity of the province.
  • Lois Scott, Class of 1969, Secretarial
Scott has extensive leadership and governance experience with public, private and professional organizations, primarily within the health care, economic development and post-secondary education sectors.  She was one of the founding members of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ’s board of governors and served as chair from 2014-16.
  • Bill Allen, Class of 1985, Accommodation, Food and Beverage
Allen is the president of Fresh Casual Restaurants, based in Aulac, NB. The Fresh Casual group includes five Swiss Chalet franchises, two Harvey’s locations and the Aulac Big Stop Travel Plaza.
  • Matt Shepherd, Class of 2003, Animation and Graphics Technology
Shepherd has reached the pinnacle of his craft, working first as a supervising animator for Sony Pictures and now as an animation lead for Animal Logic.  He has more than 35 production credits to his name, many of them blockbuster films. Matt stays connected to Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ mentoring animation graduates and supporting Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ events such as the Jalloo Festival.

“These four alumni exemplify the goals put forward in our strategic plan, Together We Rise,” said Luscombe.  “The impacts they’ve had on cultural, social and economic elements of life in New Brunswick speak well of the solid foundation they received at Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ.

“Congratulations to each of our award recipients, and thank you to those who nominated these very deserving alumni.”

This year marks the fourth annual Alumni Recognition Awards. Recipients are selected by a committee of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ staff and alumni.

The awards will be presented by President and CEO Marilyn Luscombe and a Board of Governors representative this October during a ceremony hosted by Lt.-Gov. Jocelyne Roy Vienneau at Government House in Fredericton.

Nominations are welcomed year-round and can be submitted by anyone who knows an outstanding Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Alumni. The nomination forms can be found on .
