The Board of Governors for New Brunswick Community College (Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ) has elected Lindsay Bowman and Wes McLean to serve as Chair and Vice-Chair for the 2024-2025 academic year, effective July 1, 2024.
“Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ’s role in driving New Brunswick’s social and economic wellbeing through quality education has never been more important,” said Bowman. “I look forward to continuing in my role as Chair and working alongside my fellow board members, staff, and students to transform lives and communities.”
Bowman is a practicing lawyer and co-owner of an independent pharmacy in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Formerly the Director of Research at the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation, she has also held key roles at Mitacs, Mount Allison University, and SAIT Polytechnic. Outside of her professional pursuits, Bowman serves on several boards, engages in the provincial startup and technology community, and advocates for more opportunities for female entrepreneurs and women and girls in STEM.
McLean is a Senior Consultant at the Capital Hill Group, where he leverages his extensive experience from past leadership roles in provincial and federal government. From 2010 to 2014, he served as a Member of the New Brunswick Legislative Assembly as Deputy Government House Leader and Legislative Secretary to the Premier. McLean is also actively involved in his home community of Perth-Andover and has served on various advisory boards for more than 20 years.
“As Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ enters year two of its current five-year strategic plan, the Board of Governors has an important role to play in continuing to move the College forward,” said Mary Butler, President and CEO of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ. “Lindsay and Wes have already proven to be tremendous assets to our board, and we are grateful for the experienced leadership they bring to Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ.”
