Program Overview

The Health Sciences Program is designed to provide learners with a comprehensive foundation in various aspects of healthcare. This program aims to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue entry-level positions in the healthcare industry or to further their education in allied health and nursing programs.
 
This program integrates theoretical knowledge with practical application through laboratory exercises, simulation activities, and clinical experiences.

Learners will have the opportunity to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills by analyzing case studies, participating in discussions, and working on healthcare-related projects. They will also receive instruction on effective communication techniques, including interpersonal skills and client-centered communication.

    Career Possibilities

    Upon completion of the one-year Health Sciences Program, graduates will be prepared to seek entry-level positions in a variety of healthcare settings, such as hospitals, clinics, community retail pharmacies or long-term care facilities. They may work as medical assistants, retail clerks or client care attendants. Alternatively, graduates may choose to continue their education by pursuing a degree or certifications in specialized health fields, such as nursing, pharmacy technician, respiratory therapy, opticianry or medical laboratory sciences.



    Specific Considerations

    Specific Immunizations: learners in healthcare must follow the directives of the Province as and when required, including site practicum and/or learning experience placement.

    Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector checks: learners must provide a current (within the last 60 days) copy of a criminal background check including a vulnerable sector screening.

    Please be advised that our programs may require learners to engage in off-site practicum/learning experiences, potentially involving travel to locations beyond the campus of their enrollment. It is important to note that the associated travel and accommodation costs are the responsibility of the individual learner. Please plan accordingly and explore cost-effective options to meet the program requirements.

Your computer should meet your program technology requirements to ensure the software required for your program operates effectively. Free wifi is provided on all campuses.
